The St. Anthony 's Catholic Heart Work Camp Ministry sponsors Donut Sundays on the first Sunday of the month. It’s not just donuts! Breakfast casseroles and beverages are also provided.
While optional, any and all goodwill donations are accepted.
Jambalaya / Mardi Gras dinner
Our Annual Jambalaya / Marti Gras dinner. The kids work hard on this event. It is a great event with music, photo opportunities and great food.
Tickets will be available soon from Eric & Angela Layden. This is always a good time & good food. Please support our youth.

Retreat: Walking with Jesus …to Infinity and Beyond
How can we walk more closely with Jesus, not only this Lent, but beyond? Join us for this Lenten retreat, based on the book “Boundless Compassion’, focusing on how we can be a compassionate presence for people who are suffering and / or marginalized.

Ladies, on March 22-23, there will be a 2-day Lenten Retreat. The retreat is based on the book, Bondless Compassion by Joyce Rupp. The retreat will be led by Jane Trasowech who trained with the author, and will be held at the Ave Maria Retreat Center. The Special Events committee is holding the Spring Vendor Craft Fair on Sat. March 29 at the Parish Hall. There will be a light breakfast available to purchase.
Eric & Angela Layden will be selling tacos starting at 11am continuing day all as a fundraiser for the St. Anthony Parish.
On Feb. 23, we will be celebrating the Rites for Entrance into the Catechumenate (unbaptized) and Welcoming the Candidates (baptized) at the start of Mass. This is to officially recognize those entering the Catholic Church at this year’s Easter Vigil. Please pray for them during this time of preparation.

150th Anniversary or Proclaiming Christ
The Diocese of Peoria will soon begin celebrating the 150th anniversary of Proclaiming Christ, Yesterday, Today and Forever.
We will be celebrating this milestone for the next two years. As the story goes, on February 12, 1875, the Holy Father established the Diocese of Peoria and sent a letter, appointing Fr. Michael J. Hurley as Bishop. Fr. Hurley wrote back to the Holy Father, saying he did not accept the appointment. However, Rome never received the reply as the ship that carried the letter sank! Finally, after being made aware that there was no Bishop to oversee the new Diocese, Bishop John L. Spalding was appointed and began leading the Diocese in 1877.
The Opening Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 4:00 pm.

Birthday Party for Father Ignatius
Father Ignatius will be another year older on January 25th. We will be celebrating his birthday on February 2nd (Donut Day) after the 9:00 mass. Thank you to the events committee for the cake and candles!. The committee has gift ideas, check with Amanda or Linda.

The Hoopeston Area High School Student Council is sponsoring their Senior Citizen Sweetheart Banquet on Friday Feb. 7, beginning at 1:00 in the school gymnasium. Any Hoopeston area or Rossville senior citizen interested in attending is asked to call the High School at 217-283-6661 to RSVP.
There was no Rosary & Coffee on Jan. 21 due to the freezing weather. The next one will be Feb. 18 at 9:30 at the Parish Hall.

The weaving of the mats is being done on Wednesday afternoons, if anyone would like to help.
The Special Events committee is planning a Spring Vendor Craft/Fair that will be held on March 29th from 9 am to 3pm in the Parish Hall. If anyone knows of a vendor that would like to participate have them call the Parish Hall office to sign up. There will be also be food for sale.

Mass for December 31, New year’s eve, will be at 5.00 PM on Tuesday, instead of 3.30 PM
Mass for January 1st, The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God will be at 9 AM on Wednesday. This Feast Day is a Holy Day of Obligation.
Adoration resumes Thursday, January 2.
Thanks also to all who have brought life back into St. Anthony’s parish. We are so fortunate to have so many of you participating and leading us forward. Our church is truly a community of Faith and love.

Third Sunday of Advent

Good evening/ Good morning. Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic celebration.
Today is The Third Sunday of Advent. Today’s readings begin on p. 37.
Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Father Peter Pilon, Nick Fonte ,Margaret Feller, John Lukas, and Jim Benjamin.
Beginning December 17, Father Ignatius will be helping with Masses at Holy Family on Tuesdays at 5:30 and 9AM on Fridays. St. Anthony’s Friday Masses will be at 3:30 PM. There will be NO Candlelight Holy Hour Tuesday, December 17 from 6:30-7:30. Father Ignatius is helping with Penitential Service at St. Paul’s.
The next coffee and Rosary will be at Linda Sheppard’s home on Tuesday, December 17 at 9AM. If you want to carpool, meet at the hall at 8:45. All women of the parish are welcome to attend.
The collection for retired religious will be next weekend, December 21-22. Envelopes are in the pews.
Our giving tree and box for Hygiene products for the homeless can be found in the back of the church. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
St. Anthony’s 2nd annual Christmas Party is Saturday following the 5PM mass. Join us for another evening of fun, food, games, and a raffle of some very special items! We hope you’ll plan to join us.
