October 26-27 Announcements

  • Friday Nov. 1 is All Saints’ Day and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass is at 5:30.

  • Welcome to our parish family, Joseph Aaron Hand, who will be baptized during the 9AM mass on November 3!

  • The 2024 Presidential Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Parish Hall. It is very important to vote.

  • The Hoopeston United Methodist Church has asked for our help in doing a mission project in the next few weeks. They are asking us to save our plastic shopping bags that we receive at stores. They will use them to make waterproof sleeping mats that can be used in our community for the homeless and worldwide. They are also inviting us to help make them. No date has been set yet. Please call our office if you would like to volunteer. It takes approximately 700 bags to make one mat. You may drop off the bags in the box at the back of Church.

  • The Craft/Vendor Fair was very successful and the Special Events committee is considering having a Spring Craft/Vendor Fair.

  • Next year,2025,  the Diocese of Peoria will be celebrating its 150th  year Jubilation.  Celebrations will take place for 2 years.  There will be more information to come..

  • The special events committee is planning a fellowship night of food, fun, and games following 5:00 PM mass on Saturday, November 9.  Chili or soup will be provided. You may bring a side dish or dessert to share. Bring your friends and family to play Bunco or other card games, ping pong and more.  Bring your own games if you choose.

  • Please pray for victims of Hurricanes Helene & Milton.

Church Holiday Bazaar (Vendor/craft fair)

There will be a church holiday vendor and craft bazaar on October 19th from 9:00-3:00 pm at the parish hall this year. Vendors or crafters may contact Deb Benjamin at the parish office during office hours Monday, Wed., or Thursday from 12:00-4 pm. or may contact Jeanette Andre at 913-522-7022 to reserve a space and complete a contract. One table booth space is approx. 10x10 space for $30.00. A 20x10 (two tables) booth is $50.00. Booths will be given out on a first come first serve basis, particularly in the case of vendors who are selling the same product. Electricity is available and this will be an indoor event, rain or shine. Bathrooms are on site, and the Special Events Committee will have walking tacos for sale. This is a fundraiser for the Special Events Committee.

  • Today we celebrate the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time.   The readings begin on p.214.

  • Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Pat and Jerry Northam, Loretta Alt, Jim Benjamin, and Glenna Diskin.

  • Mark your calendars for October 19 from 9AM-3 PM!  Don’t miss St. Anthony’s Vendor and Craft fair to shop for gifts for Christmas and more!  Walking tacos will be sold too!  

Vendors can still sign up by contacting Jeannette Andre.  

  • Faith Formation and Adult Bible study meet Wednesday at 5PM.

  •  Join us this fall for OCIA, the Order of Christian Initiation, formerly referred to as RCIA.

Classes will be Wednesday evenings at 6:15 PM. If you have any questions, contact Thomas Baldwin.

  •  If you have not yet  made a pledge or payment to ADA, please do so as soon as possible.If you did not receive an ADA envelope in the mail, envelopes can be found in the back of the church. Thank you for your generosity.

  • St. Anthony’s will be participating in Downtown Hoopeston’s Spooktacular on Monday, October 28.    If you would like to donate a bag of candy or salty treats, please put them in the back of the church in the next few weeks.  Volunteers will be needed at our booth.

  • Next Sunday, October 20 is World Mission Sunday. Envelopes are in the pews. Thank you for your generosity.  

  • Also, Sunday, October 20 the High School Youth Group will meet.  More information will be sent by text message.

  • Please be sure to read the bulletin this week for an insert about the upcoming election in November.

  • St. Vincent de Paul Society will be collecting loose change following mass today.  In recent months, we have been able to serve numerous families so our funds are diminishing.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.  If you are interested in joining our organization, please contact Maggie Cope or leave a message with Debbie in the office.

 Today we celebrate the 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time.   The readings begin on p.212.

  • Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Pat and Jerry Northam, Loretta Alt, Jim Benjamin, and Glenna Diskin.

  • Due to the hospitalization of Debbie’s husband, Jim, Debbie may not be in the office at her regularly scheduled time. If you need immediate assistance, please call Father Ignatius at the rectory or leave a message at the hall. Messages are being picked up regularly and someone will contact you.

  • Father Ignatious will be on a retreat beginning October 6-10.  There will be no daily mass Tuesday- Thursday. And no adoration on Thursday.

Have you ever thought about learning more about the traditions & teachings of the Catholic Church? Have you ever thought about joining the Catholic Church? Are you an adult Catholic that hasn’t been confirmed? Come join us for OCIA(the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults/new name for RCIA) this fall. The first meeting will be Sunday, Sept 29th from 6-7 pm in the parish hall. The next CCD and adult ed is Sept 25. The adult class will be wrapping up Genesis and then going through the Gospel of John.

The Special Events is planning the Craft & Vendor Fair for Oct. 19. There will be a limited numbers of spots open. If you are a vendor or know of a vendor, please call the office to reserve your spot.

There will be no daily Mass from Monday October 7th through Thursday October 10th.

On Sept. 2, Father Ignatius celebrated 34 years as a priest.

Loose change for St Vincent de Paul Society will be this weekend. Please be generous.

CCD and adult religious ed classes will start on Wed. Sept. 18 with an opening mass followed by a meal. Registration for students K -8 will be held after masses on 9-14 & 9-15.

The next Rosary & Rosary will be Sept. 17 at Priscella Lobb’s home(906 Wilson).

  • The Special Events committee is planning a vendor/craft fair for October 19th from 9am - 3PM.  The committee is looking for vendors and crafters. There will be a $30 fee for a 10x10 booth space.  If you are interested in participating, please contact Debbie in the office or Jeanette Andre.  The committee welcomes new members. If you are interested in joining this very important committee, please contact Amanda Martinez for more information.

  • Volunteers are needed for Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and Ushers. Training will be provided.  If you are interested, please contact Debbie in the office.

Just a reminder that the Youth Group will be in need of tomatoes for the Labor Day Taco Stand. Tomatoes can be dropped off at the hall on or after Monday, August 26 in the hall. Don’t forget to go out to the park to support St. Anthony’s Taco stand beginning Thursday night through Monday!

The next Rosary & Coffee will be on Aug. 20th at 9:30 and will be at the home of Mary Timmons. All the Ladies of our parish are welcome.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westville will hold its annual celebration. There will be a car show on Sat. Aug 31 from 4:00 to 8:00pm.

—-On Sunday they will have a Margaritaville with Ninety’s Daughter Providing music from 5:30 to 10:00pm.

—-On Monday there is a Pork Loin sandwich Meal from noon till 3:00pm.

Today we celebrate the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time. The readings begin on p.192.

Schools start on Thursday, August 15. Please keep in your prayers students, parents, teachers and administrators as they begin a new school year.

The Rite of Initiation (RCIA) classes for adult candidates will be offered this fall. If you or someone you know are interested in participating in these classes, please contact Debbie in the office.

A special thanks to the Parish Council and Finance Committee for their vision in completing projects this summer! In addition to the recent resurfacing of the parking lot and updating of our air conditioning system in the church, the replacement of the parish hall roof was completed this week. Your service is very much appreciated!

Dan Silver’s grandchildren would like to invite you to the Legion on Saturday, August 17 between 1 and 4 PM to honor their grandpa on his 90th birthday. Please join them to celebrate Dan Silver’s special day.

Jan Haggerty has moved to Heritage Health and would love to have visitors.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Shirley “Sam” Mohr who passed away at the nursing home on Wednesday. Also keep her daughter Dorothy and family in your prayers,

A big thank you to the special events committee for organizing our church picnic. Thanks to all who attended. Pictures from the picnic will be uploaded to the website soon!

If you were unable to attend or watch EWTN of the National Eucharistic Congress, there are numerous videos from the Congress on YouTube including speakers Father Mike Schmitz, Bishop Barron, Lila Rose, Chris Stefanik and many more.

Join us for coffee and donuts following Mass on Sunday, August 4. All are welcome to come to the Hall for food and fellowship.

T-shirts will be on display and may be ordered.

The Cry Room is available for use. It is located on the southwest side of the church and may be entered prior to Mass thru the door to the left of the Alter. One may also enter from the outside door.

Next Sunday is loose change collection for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The Parish picnic will be at McFerren from noon to three on Sunday July 21. The Special Events committee will provide fried chicken. We are meeting at the shelter between the civic center and the pool. Please bring a side dish. There will be lots of fun and games. All parishioners are invited.

Weather permitting, the Parish Hall parking lot will be sealed and re-striped on July 26th. Please DO NOT PARK in the lot on July 27th and July 28th.

Updates from the Diocese of Peoria: Because of changes that are occurring to our parishes, it has seemed opportune to make a modification to two of our vicariates: The Danville Vicariate has been merged into the Champaign Vicariate. TFr. Joel Phelps remains the Vicar Forane of the Champaign Vicariate. The Galesburg Vicariate has been merged into the Macomb Vicariate. Msgr. Timothy Nolan has been named the Vicar Forane of the Macomb Vicariate.

There will be a Women’s Cursillo Weekend Sept. 20th-22nd at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Urbana, IL. If interested, contact Jenny Causey via text at 217-621-

The St. Anthony 's Catholic Heart Work Camp Ministry sponsors Donut Sundays on the first Sunday of the month. It’s not just donuts! Breakfast casseroles and beverages are also provided.

While optional, any and all goodwill donations are accepted.

  • There will be Mass at 8:30 am on Thursday July 4 but there will be no adoration on that day. Adoration will resume on Thursday July 11.

  • The Parish picnic will be at McFerren at noon on Sunday, July 21. The Special Events committee will provide fried chicken. There will be a sign sheet soon at the back of the church for side dishes and desserts.

  • The White House Retreat in St. Louis, MO will be Sept. 5 thru Sept. 8. Anyone who is interested contact www.whretreat.org.

  • The Vermilion County Catholic Golf Outing is Sunday, Aug. 4 at 1 pm at Wolf Creek Golf Club. Shotgun start and limited to 13 4-person teams. Anyone interested call St. Mary’s to register at 217-267-3334.

  • The next Rosary and coffee will be at 9:30 am at Jeanette Andre’s home located at 725 Trego, Hoopeston. All women of the parish are welcome.

  • The National Eucharistic Congress will be held July 17-21 in Indianapolis IN. For anyone interested please go to Eucharisticcongress.org.

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

June 29-30 , 2024

Good evening/ Good morning. Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic celebration.

  • We’d especially like to welcome new parishioners, visitors and guests.  

  • Today we celebrate the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time.   The readings begin on p. 179. 

  • Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Arnie Gonzalez, Jerry Northam,and Glenna Diskin.

  • Mass will be held at 8:30 on Thursday, July 4, however there will be no Adoration.

  •  Peter’s  Pence Collection is  this weekend.  Envelopes are in the pews. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

  • St. Anthony’s Family Picnic has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 21. Please mark your calendars.

  • Mass intentions are needed for weekday Masses.  Please consider having a weekday Mass for a loved one.

  • The National Eucharistic Congress will be held July 17-21.  For information on attending the conference, go to Eucharisticcongress.org

Catholic Family Night out with the Danville Dans will be Monday June 24 at 6:30. Please wear Black & White and come say goodbye to Fr. Loftus. Tickets are available at the gate for $5.00. Please identify which parish you are from( St. Anthony, Holy Family, St. Paul, St. Mary or St. Isaac Jogues).

Adoration on Thursday June 27, will end at noon .

There will be a blood donation at St. Mary’s on Sunday, June 23 from 9 am to 1 pm. Walk-ins accepted. Summertime is always the busiest time and has the greatest need for blood.

The Peter’s Pence collection will be the weekend of June 22/23 and June 29/30. Thank you to all who donate.

If you have been considering having some mass intentions said for your loved ones please contact the office. We are low for eekday mass intentions.

Good evening/ Good morning and Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and father figures. Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic celebration.

We’d especially like to welcome new parishioners, visitors and guests.

Today we celebrate the Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The readings begin on p. 177.

Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for John Sheridan, Jerry Northam and Jeanne Shore.

St. Anthony’s youth and friends, along with their chaperones, left for Richmond, Virginia Saturday morning for a week-long Catholic Heart Workcamp. Please keep them in your prayers this week.

St. Anthony’s Family Picnic has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 21. Please mark your calendars.

Mass intentions are needed for weekday Masses. Please consider having a weekday Mass for a loved one.

St. Anthony’s assists with Meals on Wheels on Wednesday mornings once every 6 weeks. If you would be willing to help deliver meals periodically, please contact Debbie in the office or Linda Sheppard.

Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

We’d especially like to welcome new parishioners, visitors and guests.

Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for John Sheridan, Jerry Northam and Jeanne Shore.

On Tuesday, June 11 at 9:30, the women of St. Anthony’s are invited to Mary Taylor’s home for coffee and prayer. See the bulletin for more information.

On Saturday, June 15 ten St. Anthony’s youth and friends, along with their chaperones, will be traveling to Richmond, Virginia for a week-long Catholic Heart Workcamp. Please pray that they have a safe trip and as disciples of St. Anthony’s they are guided by the Holy Spirit throughout the week.

The women of St. Anthony’s are invited to attend a shower to welcome Aaron and Lindsey Hand’s new baby who is due in August. If you are interested in attending, please pick up an invitation from -Mandy-5PM, Charlotte -9AM after Mass.

Also, St. Vincent de Paul will be collecting loose change after today’s Mass.
