Jan 18 & 19 Weekly Announcements

  • The next Faith Formation youth and adult classes will be on Wednesday Jan. 22nd. OCIA classes are at 6:15.

  • We are still collecting plastic bags for the Methodist Church for the mat making project. You may leave your bags at the back of the church or drop them off at the office. Anyone interested in helping put the mats together let me know. They have made at least one mat and usually work on Tuesdays.

  • Mass intention requests are needed. Please consider offering a mass for loved ones, both living and deceased. There is no better way to honor those you love than to offer a Mass for their intentions.

  • The next Rosary & Coffee will be Jan. 21 at the Parish Hall at 9:00am. This open to all women of the Parish. Please feel welcome to join us.

  • The Annual Vicariate St. Valentine’s Dance is Sat. Feb. 8, 2025 at Wolf Creek Golf Club. Tickets must be purchased in advance. St. Mary’s is holding a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration & Prayer for our Country Sunday Jan. 19 from 3 to 4.

  • Prayer is so needed to overcome the evil of abortion and an abortion center is coming to Danville.

  • Pray for victims of the California/LA wildfires,

  • Prayers for incoming Pres. Donald Trump on Jan. 20 at noon and prayers for family and friends.

  • Prayers for Father Peter Pilon for his recovery & rehab. He is now at OSF in Urbana.

Father Ignatius will be another year older on January 25th. We will be celebrating his birthday on February 2nd (Donut Day) after the 9:00 mass. Thank you to the events committee for the cake and candles!. The committee has gift ideas, check with Amanda or Linda.

  • Please remember to pray for Father Peter Pilion who had two strokes and is a diabetic Fr. Pilion is in the hospital in Bloomington, IL.

  • The next Faith Formation and adult classes are on Jan. 15, 2025 at 5pm. OCIA classes will be at 6:15.

  • The liturgy/Eucharistic committee will meet Monday at 6:30 weather permitting.

Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic Celebration.  Welcome to visitors, guests and parishioners. Congratulations to Andrew and Megan Colunga and family.  Following the 5 PM mass last night their 3 children, Amina, Ailee and Amarie were baptized. 

  •  Today is the Mass of The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph .  Today’s readings begin on p. 52 in your missal.

  • Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Steve Foster, Father Peter Pilon, Nick Fonte, John Lukas, and Jim Benjamin and safe travels to all who are traveling during the Christmas season.

  • Mass for December 31, New year’s eve,  will be at 5.00 PM on Tuesday,   instead  of 3.30 PM

  • Mass for January 1st, The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God will be at 9 AM on Wednesday.  This Feast Day is a Holy Day of Obligation.

  • Adoration resumes Thursday, January 2.

  • Thanks also to all who have brought life back into St. Anthony’s parish.  We are so fortunate to have so many of you participating and leading us forward.  Our church is truly a community of Faith and love.

  • The collection for the Retired Religious will be the weekend of Dec. 21 & 22..

  • There have been several donations for the new albs. A big Thank You to those who have donated. It is not too late to donate. Just put in an envelope and drop in the offering basket. You will be seeing the new albs soon.

  • Christmas Eve Mass lector is Lisa Lukas, usher is Tom Kasallis, servers will be Theresa, Kassidy, Thomas & Elias and Eucharistic ministers are Tom and Lisa.

  • Christmas Day Mass lector is Charlotte Smith, usher is Brandon Smith. Addison & Caleb & Theresa will be servers and Eucharistic ministers will be Debbie and Linda West.

  • Thank you to all who attended and supported the Christmas party. It was a great time with much food, games, fun and fellowship with over 60 people attending.

  • The projector donated by Amanda was won by Lupe Reyes.

  • The delicious food was donated by many parishioners. There were many raffle prizes.

Good evening/ Good morning. Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic celebration.

  •  Today is The Third Sunday of  Advent.  Today’s readings begin on p. 37.

  • Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Father Peter Pilon, Nick Fonte ,Margaret Feller, John Lukas, and Jim Benjamin.  

  • Beginning December 17, Father Ignatius will be helping with Masses at Holy Family on Tuesdays at 5:30 and 9AM on Fridays. St. Anthony’s Friday Masses will be at 3:30 PM. There will be NO  Candlelight Holy Hour Tuesday, December 17 from 6:30-7:30. Father Ignatius is helping with Penitential Service at St. Paul’s.

  • The next coffee and Rosary will be at Linda Sheppard’s home on Tuesday, December 17 at 9AM. If you want to carpool, meet at the hall at 8:45. All women of the parish are welcome to attend.

  • The collection for retired religious will be next weekend, December 21-22. Envelopes are in the pews.

  • Our giving tree and box for Hygiene products for the homeless can be found in the back of the church. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

  •  St. Anthony’s 2nd annual Christmas Party is Saturday following the 5PM mass. Join us for another evening of fun, food, games, and a raffle of some very special items!  We hope you’ll plan to join us.

Second Sunday of Advent

December 7-8, 2024

  • Good evening/ Good morning. Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic celebration.

  •  Today is The Second Sunday of  Advent.  Today’s readings begin on p. 33.

  • Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Father Pilon, Nick Fonte ,Margaret Feller, John Lukas, and Jim Benjamin.  

  • Please join us for Candlelight Holy Hour Tuesday, December 10 from 6:30-7:30. 

  • Advent Penance Service will be from 6-7PM on Wednesday evening, December 11. Father Ted, Father Ignatius, and Father Cyr from St. Paul will be available for confessions

  • Please join us for Las Mananitas at 7AM on Thursday, December 12. Songs, Rosary and a light breakfast will follow.

  • Our giving tree and box for Hygiene products for the homeless can be found in the back of the church. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

  • Envelopes for a collection for retired religious are in the pews today. Please be generous.

  •  St. Anthony’s 2nd annual Christmas Party is Next Saturday, December 14th following the 5PM mass. Join us for another evening of fun, food, games, and a raffle of some very special items!  We hope you’ll plan to join us.

  • We have received the new albs. If you would like to donate for these please contact the office.

  • On Sunday Dec. 8, we will have Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration after the 11 am Mass. A meal will be served at the Parish Hall with lots of good food.

  • On Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 am there is another celebration for Our Lady of Guadalupe with songs and the Rosary. Afterwards, there will be a light breakfast served at the Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend both celebrations.

  • The Penance services will be:

    • St. Anthony Hoopeston, Dec. 11 from 6 to 7,

    • Georgetown will be Dec. 9 at 5:30,

    • St. Mary’s Westville on Dec. 19 at 5:30

    • St. Paul on Dec. 17 at 5:30.

  • There will be Candlelight Holy Hour on Tuesday Dec. 10 from 6:30pm to 7:30 pm. This will be every Tuesday during Advent.

  • Mark your calendars for the Christmas party after mass on Dec. 14. Good food, lots of fun with games and a great raffle. All are welcome to attend and bring a guest.

  • The next Coffee and Rosary will be hosted by Linda Sheppard on Dec. 17 at 9 am. Anyone going please meet at the parish hall at 8:45. All women of the parish are welcome to attend and bring a friend.

First Sunday of Advent
December 1, 2024

Good evening/ Good morning. Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic celebration.

  • Today is The first Sunday of  Advent.  Following the petitions, Father Ignatius will bless the Advent Wreath and the first Purple Candle, The Prophet candle of Hope will be lit.

  • Please pray for all St. Anthony’s friends and family members who are ill or deceased. This week we especially want to pray for Nick Fonte ,Margaret Feller, John Lukas, Pat and Jerry Northam, Loretta Alt, Jim Benjamin, and Glenna Diskin.  If you have a friend or family member that you would like us to pray for during mass, please contact Debbie in the office or Linda Sheppard.

  • During Advent on Tuesday evenings,  we will have a Candlelight Holy Hour.  Our  first Candlelight Holy Hour will be this Tuesday, December 3 from 6:30-7:30.  This is a perfect opportunity to take time out of the busy Christmas season to devote 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour for prayer and reflection.  Adoration on Thursdays will also continue during Advent.

  •  Faith Formation, Adult Bible Study and  OCIA classes will resume Wednesday evening.

  • Next Sunday, December 8, The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be celebrated at the 11AM Mass. Please join us for this special Mass and a celebration meal following Mass.

  • Albs for Altar Servers and Father Ignatius have been ordered.  If you would like to purchase an alb or make a donation towards a purchase, you may contact Debbie in the office or drop a donation in an envelope marked, “Albs” into the basket. Thanks so much.

    •  Today is the last Sunday in Ordinary time for year B.  Advent begins next Sunday, December 1.  Today we celebrate The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.   The readings begin on p.228.

This week we especially want to pray for Jesse Gonzalez ,Margaret Feller, John Lukas, Pat and Jerry Northam, Loretta Alt, Jim Benjamin, and Glenna Diskin.  If you have a friend or family member that you would like us to pray for during mass, please contact Debbie in the office or Linda Sheppard.

    • There will be no Faith Formation, Adult Bible Study or OCIA classes Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving,

  • St. Nicholas Holiday Bazaar Sat. Dec. 7th at Schlarman South Campus 9 am to 4pm. There will be over 25 local vendors & artisans.

  • On Sunday Dec. 8, we will have Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration after the 11 am Mass. A meal will be served at the Parish Hall with lots of good food.

  • On Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 am there is another celebration for Our Lady of Guadalupe with songs and the Rosary. Afterwards, there will be a light breakfast served at the Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend both celebrations.

  • Please notice Thanksgiving Day Mass is at 9am and there is no adoration that day.

  • All women of St. Anthony’s are invited to Rosary and Coffee at Pricilla Lobb’s home on Tuesday, November 19 at 9AM.  Please contact Debbie in the office Monday afternoon to RSVP and/or get Pricilla’s address.

  • Last weekend the Special Events Committee hosted a game night on Saturday after 5PM mass with chili, taco soup, desserts and potluck from parishioners.  There were adult as well as kids games and it was all free!   It was a fun night of food and fellowship!  The committee is now in the process of planning an all parish Christmas Party! Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 14th for another evening of fun, food, games, and a raffle of some very special items!  We hope you’ll plan to join us!

  • If you would like to enter a loved one in the book of the dead, the book has been placed on the podium to the left of the altar.

  • There is a group of local seamstresses who are sewing dresses for young girls in Uganda.  If you have fabric or gently used girls t-shirts up to size 12, please bring them to Mass and Pat Foster will deliver them to the women.

32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

November 9-10, 2024

Good evening/ Good morning. Thank you for joining us today for this Eucharistic celebration.

Today we celebrate the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.   The readings begin on p.224.

  •  The Hoopeston United Methodist Church has asked us to save our plastic shopping bags that we receive at stores. They will use them to make waterproof mats for the homeless. It takes 700 bags to make one mat. Please put the bags in the box at the back of church or bring to the office.

  • The next Faith Formation and Adult Class is Nov. 13th at 5 pm. OCIA will meet at 6:15 pm.

  • T-shirts may be picked up at the hall during office hours on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday from 12-4 or Wednesday from 5-6 during Faith Formation classes.

  • On Sat Nov. 9, there will be an evening of food, fun and games following 5 pm mass. Chili or soup will be provided and you may bring a side dish or dessert to share. All parishioners are welcome to bring a friend. Many games will be available but you may also bring games.

  • The Diocese of Peoria will be celebrating its 150 year Jubilation starting in 2025 and lasting for two years.

  • The annual St. Mary’s Christmas Bazaar is Sat. Nov. 23rd from 9 am to 1pm at the Parish Hall/Gym in Westville. There will be a raffle and concessions. Also, homemade noodles will be for sale.

  • Info to come on the Dec. 8th and Dec. 12th Celebrations of Our Lady of Guadelupe.
